Phoenix Adopts Building Construction Code to Support Safer, Smarter Growth

The Phoenix City Council has voted to adopt the 2024 Phoenix Building Construction Code (PBCC), a comprehensive update that brings the City’s development standards in line with the latest construction codes and local priorities.

The new code will take effect August 1, 2025, and includes a grace period for projects already in the pipeline.

This update reflects Phoenix’s ongoing commitment to safety, innovation, and sustainability, ensuring structures are constructed using best practices and designed for longevity.
