Medicaid cuts cause JFCS to close Glendale office

Since 1935, Jewish Family & Children’s Service has helped individuals and families across Arizona, offering compassionate care, mental health support, and culturally grounded programs rooted in dignity and hope.A recent Jewish News article highlighted significant funding challenges facing the organization and others like it. Due to ongoing gaps in reimbursement from Arizona’s Medicaid program, AHCCCS, JFCS had to make difficult decisions to ensure the long-term sustainability.

To continue to offer services, JFCS had to close its Glendale health center, at 5701 W. Talavi Blvd., Suite 180, and reduce several behavioral health and administrative positions.These changes are painful but do not reflect a loss of mission. Despite decades of stretching every dollar, philanthropic support alone cannot bridge a gap in public funding that has gone unaddressed.To support JFCS during this time, continued generosity and advocacy are appreciated. Some members of the community have chosen to make a general gift to help sustain services, while others reached out to their state legislators to express support for stronger AHCCCS funding…
