GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — The Arizona Department of Public Safety said Monday that a total of four patrol vehicles were damaged during troopers’ efforts to detain a wrong-way driver on the Loop 101 in the Glendale area late Sunday.
DPS officials tell Arizona’s Family that troopers responded to reports of a wrong-way driver near Peoria Avenue around 11:45 p.m.. One trooper used his patrol car to attempt to stop the vehicle, but it continued traveling southbound in the northbound lanes.
Moments later, a second trooper conducted what’s known as a PIT maneuver to bring the car to a halt. But at this point, the wrong-way vehicle struck another patrol vehicle as two other units boxed it in to prevent the driver from getting away…
