GLENDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — The Glendale Police Department is now carrying AEDs in all of its police cruisers.
An AED is an automated external defibrillator, a medical device that can deliver an electric shock to restore the heart’s rhythm in someone experiencing cardiac arrest. EMTs and firefighters also have these, but their response time is typically longer than that of the police.
Glendale Fire Department has an average response time to an emergency of between seven and nine minutes, and the police respond in between two and four minutes. Donnie Vos, the health and safety officer with Glendale Police, said that every minute matters…
