Phoenix police see rise in recruits but worries about keeping veterans
The Phoenix Police Department is seeing the number of people applying to become officers is way up, but police union leaders are still raising concerns. A new report shows that through the end of July, 3,091 people applied to be recruits, which is more than all of 2024. However, with veteran officers soon eligible to retire, some worry there is a lack of tenured officers who will remain. Zach Prelutsky has more.
