Multiple agencies fighting battery storage fire at Glendale-Peoria border

PEORIA, AZ (AZFamily) — Dozens of firefighters are working to put out a fire after it broke out at a battery storage facility at the Peoria-Glendale border on Wednesday evening.

Fire crews from Glendale, Peoria, and Phoenix were called out to the area of 73rd Avenue and Northern Avenue around 5 p.m. Flames could be seen coming from containers that were storing batteries.

The Salt River Project, known as SRP, told Arizona’s Family is aware of the fire at its 25-megawatt battery system at its Bolster substation. It’s next to the Agua Fria Generation Station.
