PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Spitalny School in the Cartwright School District recently rebranded as a K-8 school. They’ve had after-school sports in the past, but this year they are bringing back girls’ volleyball in the fall and boys’ volleyball in the spring.
Michelle Castro is a teacher there and is also in charge of the new program. She recently sent an email to her fellow teachers asking them to donate volleyballs to the program. One of her colleagues reached out to Arizona’s Family Surprise Squad and asked the team to help out.
“We receive funding but we can always use additional funds to purchase equipment, uniforms, all the different things that scholars need,” Principal Janet Hecht told Tess Rafols. “We know kids who are involved in after-school sports are happier and they’re better learners.”…
