We Arizonans pride ourselves on our abundance of great Mexican food, so it should surprise no one that the state is well-represented in Yelp’s new list of America’s top 100 taco spots.
The big picture: Arizona is one of the most prolific states on the list with eight entries.
- Only Texas’ nine entries and California’s 45 — yes, you read that correctly — had more than us.
State of play: Glendale’s Jalapeños Sonora Grill was our top taco shop and lone top 10 entry, clocking in at No. 6.
- Yelp reviewers raved over the carne asada, said best-sellers like the Taco Sonora, with steak, green chili and melted cheese, and Lorenza Shark taco, with steak, tripe, green chili, and cheese, were “bursting with rich, homemade flavor.”
- In addition to meats and vegetables that are, according to one reviewer, “cooked to perfection over a live (indoor!) mesquite-fired grill,” Jalapeños Sonora Grill has an extensive salsa bar.
