Peoria Police Arrest Henry Juarez-Garcia for First-Degree Murder in Shooting Death of Surprise Man

Peoria Police have arrested a suspect following the fatal shooting of a Surprise man last weekend. FOX 10 Phoenix reports that around 8 p.m. on October 11, officers were called to the scene near 95th and Peoria Avenues after receiving reports of gunshots. They discovered 33-year-old James Durham lying in the street with a gunshot wound and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Witnesses saw several people fleeing in a red car after the shooting. The officers, in pursuing leads, pulled over a car that matched the witness’s description, detaining the occupants for further investigation. “The occupants of the vehicle were detained for further investigation. One of them was identified as the suspect,” police detailed in a statement obtained by FOX 10 Phoenix. 46-year-old Henry Juarez-Garcia from Peoria was the man arrested and faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder.

While the incident’s motive remains under wraps, police have suggested the shooting seems to be isolated.
