Phoenix Police Seek Public’s Help in Identifying Robbery Suspects Amid Recent Spate of Officer-Involved Shootings

Phoenix has been grasping for calm in the wake of recent turmoil, with incidents of robbery and officer-involved shootings causing community concerns. According to ABC 15, the Phoenix Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying two suspects allegedly involved in a robbery on October 15 near 7th Street and Buckeye Road. The duo reportedly assaulted an individual and made away with their wallet and cell phone. Witnesses last observed both suspects making their escape on foot, disappearing into a neighborhood.

The plea for public help comes amid another violent encounter involving Phoenix officers. Arizona’s Family reports that Phoenix police shot a robbery suspect outside a fast food restaurant on the night of October 3rd. Officers were responding to a report of an armed robbery attempt when they encountered a man who matched the description of the suspect. Initially, the suspect complied with the commands to lie down, only to suddenly attempt to stand up near the restaurant’s entrance, an act which precipitated the shooting.

The wounded suspect was then transported to the hospital with injuries that were said to be non-life-threatening, and critically, no officers or bystanders were injured during the incident. While a firearm was not found on the suspect during the preliminary investigation, this particular episode marks the latest in a series of police shootings in Phoenix, totaling eight in just over a month and a half…
