MESA, AZ (AZFamily) — Two people are dead, and eight others, including three police officers, were hurt in a fiery crash early Saturday in Mesa.
The collision happened near the intersection of Southern Avenue and Dobson Road just before 12:30 a.m. Investigators say a westbound vehicle was speeding and rear-ended a second vehicle that was coming out of a private drive. The rear-end impact caused the second vehicle to go up in flames.
The driver of the first vehicle was pronounced dead. A 17-year-old who was a passenger in the second vehicle also died. Five passengers were hospitalized with minor injuries and later released.
Officers quickly raced to rescue people who were inside the burning vehicle, and three officers sustained minor injuries. All three officers have been released from the hospital and are recovering…
