PHOENIX — A frightening attempted break-in at a home in Ahwatukee earlier this month has now been linked to a deadly shooting involving a 16-year-old boy in Gilbert.
Investigators say the man captured on surveillance video banging on a homeowner’s door was later identified as a suspect wanted in connection with a shooting in Gilbert that left a teenager dead days later.
The incident in Ahwatukee, near 48th Street and Warner Road, happened on the morning of Dec. 14, while homeowner Zach Armijo was away serving at church. His Ring doorbell camera recorded a man dressed in dark clothing and a hoodie approaching the front door while holding a wooden stick.
