PHOENIX (AZFamily) — An injured hiker was hospitalized after being airlifted from Camelback Mountain on Saturday morning.
Just before 11 a.m., Phoenix fire crews were dispatched to the Echo Canyon trail on reports of a woman with a lower-body injury about a mile past the trailhead.
Crews did not release details about the woman’s injury but said she couldn’t continue her descent, so they airlifted her off the mountain and took her to a hospital for treatment.
While temperatures are lower than normal, it’s still important to stay safe in more ways than one while hiking in Arizona. Hikers are encouraged to follow “Take a Hike. Do it Right” guidelines and choose a trail that best fits their experience, the time of day and weather conditions…
