Phoenix restaurant worker in ICE custody seeks care for infection

PHOENIX — A Phoenix restaurant manager in ICE custody says he desperately needs medical attention. 36-year-old Ruben Dario Araiza Salas does not have legal status in the U.S. after overstaying his Visa. He was arrested during a routine traffic stop in August, said a friend of Salas.

“He’s broken and just wants to go home, get out of there and get medical care,” said Danny Duke. “He’s like a brother to me.”

Salas’s attorney alleges ICE officials in Eloy are not following their own healthcare standards and are putting Salas’s life at risk.
