Police: 16-year-old caught with firearm in backpack at West Valley school

AVONDALE, Ariz. — A firearm was discovered in a backpack at a West Valley school on Tuesday, police officials said.

The Avondale Police Department said administrators at West Point High School received an anonymous tip on Feb. 3 about a 16-year-old student allegedly having a firearm. An unloaded firearm was found in the boy’s backpack and the student was arrested, police said.
