On Monday, a usually quiet area in west Phoenix’s Maryvale neighborhood became a crime scene after a shooting left three people injured. Police say a car pulled up to a house, people got out, and gunfire broke out, prompting officers to close streets and investigate.
Scene and early reports
According to Arizona’s Family, the gunfire was reported shortly after 8 p.m. near Belvoir Road, just south of Thomas Road close to 93rd Avenue. Investigators have not yet released the conditions of the three people who were shot or said whether anyone is in custody. Video from the scene shows officers and residents clustered at the intersection while detectives marked evidence and taped off nearby yards.
