LIVE: Funeral underway for trooper-paramedic killed in Flagstaff helicopter crash

GILBERT, AZ (AZFamily) — The Arizona Department of Public Safety trooper-paramedic who died in a helicopter crash in Flagstaff will be laid to rest in Gilbert on Monday.

Trooper-paramedic Hunter Bennett, 28, and pilot Robert Skankey, 61, died when their DPS helicopter, Ranger 56, crashed on the night of Feb. 4 while on the scene of an active shooting situation in a Flagstaff neighborhood.

Bennett started at DPS as a cadet state trooper in 2022, assigned to highway patrol in 2023 and transferred to Western Air Rescue in Kingman in 2024…
