High temps break 40-year record in Phoenix; cooler temps on the way

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The high temperature was 92 today; that easily beat the daily high temperature of 89 set in 1986. Today is also part of a 4-way tie for the warmest all-time temperature (92 degrees) for Phoenix in the month of February. The 4 dates are Feb. 25, 1921, Feb. 27, 1986, yesterday (Feb. 27, 2026), and today (Feb. 28, 2026).

We’ll likely break another high temperature record on Sunday; the forecast is 94, and the record is 89 degrees from 1986. Because of the early-season arrival of these warm temperatures, Sunday will be another First Alert Day. Please stay hydrated if you are heading out to the spring training games!

Monday will bring some breezes, a few clouds, and slightly cooler temperatures. While it will be a little cooler, highs will still be well-above normal at around 90 degrees. Highs will continue in the mid to upper 80s mid-week, followed by a possible cool-down by the end of next week, with highs potentially dropping into the low 80s…
