Former Arizona attorney general official pleads guilty to jewel theft

Vanessa Hickman, a former division chief at the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, pleaded guilty in Maricopa County Superior Court to stealing and selling thousands of dollars in jewelry.

On Feb. 25, Hickman, whose legal name is Vanessa Dailey, a name she restored after a 2014 divorce, admitted to one count of theft and one count of facilitation to commit trafficking in stolen property.

According to court documents, she received a package containing more than $40,000 in jewelry that was accidentally delivered to her condominium in June. A U.S. Postal Service carrier made multiple attempts to retrieve the package before it was returned. When it was finally sent back, a $2,400 diamond bracelet was missing…
