Phoenix man recounts pistol-whip, home robbery as wife hid feet away

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Phoenix man says he was struck with a gun, bound with an electrical cord, and robbed at gunpoint inside his own home Saturday night while his wife locked herself in a bathroom to escape.

Ernesto Navarro said he and his wife had just returned home from catering an event when the attack occurred around 10 p.m. near 27th Avenue and Bethany Home Road.

The couple has operated Taco Catering Express, a banquet and family event catering business, for three years.

Navarro said his wife went inside while he unloaded empty food trays and gas tanks from their van. An armed man wearing a face mask and a hoodie then confronted him near the garage, forced him inside, lowered the door, and struck him across the head with a gun…
