An NAU student was murdered in 1987. Nearly 40 years later, an arrest has been made.

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — A Glendale man has been arrested in connection with the 1987 homicide of a Northern Arizona University student, Flagstaff Police said.

According to officials, 24-year-old Ina Claire Langstaff was stabbed to death outside her Old Town Neighborhood apartment on Nov. 7, 1987. Police said, “Despite extensive investigative efforts at the time, the case had remained unresolved.”

The case was continuously reviewed and investigated, officials said. Then, in 2025, further forensic testing by the Department of Public Safety yielded additional DNA evidence, resulting in the “critical confirmation of the suspect’s connection.”…
