Phoenix murder-suicide suspect had gun rights restored after prior assault

PHOENIX (AZFamily) — New details show a north Phoenix murder-suicide suspect once lost his gun rights, then had them restored after a prior assault conviction.

Police have identified the man and woman found dead Saturday in an apparent murder-suicide as Jane and James Main. Police believe James shot Jane and then shot himself.

Court records show this was not James’ first run-in with police. James pleaded guilty to aggravated assault in the 1990s and lost his right to own a gun. That right was restored about 10 years later.
