Phoenix Mystery Castle, once set for demolition, has a new owner

Phoenix’s iconic Mystery Castle has a new owner promising to preserve the once-threatened landmark.

The 1930s stone castle near South Mountain Park and Preserve has been closed to the public since 2022 and had been set for demolition.

But the Arizona Preservation Foundation now reports the property has been sold. The Harrell Family of Companies, which bought the site, has been involved in other historical preservation projects throughout Arizona.

“The new owner has made a commitment to preserve the Mystery Castle while creating a destination event venue — one that will allow new generations of Phoenicians to experience this irreplaceable piece of Phoenix history,” the Arizona Preservation Foundation said…
