City Plans to Demolish Dozens of Blighted Homes Across Pittsburgh With $3.5 Million in Federal Funds

Dozens of vacant, crumbling homes across Pittsburgh are slated for demolition as the city prepares to tear down blighted single-family properties using $3.5 million in federal funding.

According to the city’s environmental review notice, the demolitions are funded entirely through FY 2025 Community Development Block Grant money and span nine ZIP codes. Mayor Corey O’Connor signed off on the environmental certification, clearing the way for Pittsburgh to formally request the federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
