Masked crowds find more than pickles at Pittsburgh’s Picklesburgh

Picklesburgh has expanded beyond its traditional pickle offerings, transforming into an activity hub along the rivers, according to a community announcement.

One of the highlights is the “Briny Buckaroo,” a mechanical pickle bull ride that adds a honky-tonk vibe to downtown Pittsburgh. Live music performances on nearby stages contribute to the lively atmosphere, turning the riverfront into an open-air concert venue, according to the announcement.

New activities at Arts Landing

The festival’s new location at Arts Landing features a variety of activities. Visitors can participate in casual or competitive games on brightly lined pickleball courts. Additionally, oversized lawn games like giant Connect Four provide opportunities for families and friends to relax and enjoy themselves between food stops.

Air quality concerns

The event is taking place amidst poor air quality, with many attendees wearing masks due to haze from wildfire smoke. While the smoke has not deterred festivalgoers, it has influenced the appearance of the crowd, with many pairing N95 or cloth masks with their Picklesburgh merchandise.
