Residents across the Pittsburgh area woke up Sunday to hazy skies as wildfire smoke drifted into the region, while meteorologists also continued monitoring the potential for severe thunderstorms that could develop early this week.
Although the smoke is expected to be visible overhead, forecasters say much of it remains thousands of feet above the ground, limiting its effect on air quality at the surface. Even so, changing weather conditions are expected to bring a mix of sunshine, scattered showers and the possibility of stronger storms heading into Monday night and Tuesday.
The combination of smoky skies and an unsettled forecast has prompted weather officials to encourage residents to stay informed as conditions evolve over the next several days.
