The family of a 31-year-old Haitian immigrant who died from hypothermia after being released from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody in Pittsburgh is preparing to sue the federal government and potentially other parties over the circumstances surrounding her death.
Daphy Michel was found unconscious near a bus shelter at Station Square in Pittsburgh on March 1, 2026. She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
