At a time when local newscasts seem to be de-emphasizing sports segments, WPGH will invest in a new, local weeknight program, “Pittsburgh Sports Tonight,” airing 7-7:30 p.m. weekdays beginning Aug. 31.
Jack Hillgrove, former sports anchor at WTOV in Wheeling/Steubenville and grandson of legendary Pittsburgh broadcaster Bill Hillgrove, will host “PST,” which will air on Sinclair Broadcast Group’s WPGH in Pittsburgh, WJAC in Johnstown/Altoona/State College and WTOV.
The broadcast will largely emanate from WTOV’s studio — as well as from a set at WPGH — with coverage of the Steelers, Pirates, Penguins, Riverhounds, Pitt, Penn State, West Virginia University, Robert Morris University, Duquesne University and standout local high school athletics…
