In January 2026, Pitt announced new meal plans meant to provide students with more flexibility and convenience for the 2026-27 academic year. Ahead of the school year, some students looked forward to the changes, but since they have been implemented, many feel their options are limited compared to last year.

A primary change was the institution of Meal Exchanges — predefined combinations of items available at on-campus restaurants. They often include an entree, side and beverage but can vary between locations.
