Fight over grandchild leads to arrest

Bloomsburg, Pa. — A grandmother allegedly barged into a family member’s home and got into a confrontation over a child, despite being warned to stay away from the property.

Roberta E. Birt, 69, is accused of showing up at the home on First Street on Aug. 22 in an attempt to see her grandchild, despite a temporary restraining order that gave the child’s parent temporary custody, according to Scott Township police.

Officers were contacted after the child’s mother reported that Birt had been sending her messages and wanted to come to the home to see the child. The mother told police she did not want Birt on the property…
