First responders Thursday morning rescued a motorist stranded on the roof of her car after thunderstorms dumped two inches of rain in under 90 minutes, breaching an Elizabeth Township creek and flooding the road alongside it.
The rescue came as floodwaters forced police and firefighters to close three roads in Elizabeth Borough and Elizabeth Township — the areas hardest hit by the morning storms, according to the National Weather Service.
No injuries were reported and the floodwaters had largely receded by 10:30 a.m…
