Joseph Hart, 43, of Monroeville, is in custody in connection with a September 17 crossbow shooting at a North Huntingdon home. Police say the victim was a longtime friend of Hart’s and that the incident followed an accusation involving $200.
Police allege Hart took $200 from a woman’s purse, along with sunglasses and a cellphone, and threatened to return and blow up the home if the victim told anyone what happened. According to CBS News, the victim told detectives Hart accused him of stealing $200, showed him a new crossbow and fired it at his face.
Doctors Removed Arrow After It Traveled Beneath Skin
Police said the arrow struck near the victim’s eye and traveled approximately six inches beneath his skin, along his skull. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where doctors surgically removed it, CBS News reported.
Police say Hart left after the alleged shooting, taking the money and other items and making the threat described above. The allegations are part of the investigation into the incident.
The Men Had Known Each Other for Years
The victim told police he and Hart had been friends for most of their lives, according to the account relayed by CBS News. Police have described the incident as stemming from the dispute over the alleged $200 theft.
