Police investigate fatal officer-involved shooting on South Side Slopes

Allegheny County Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in Pittsburgh’s South Side Slopes neighborhood that left a man dead.

Pittsburgh police were called to the 1900 block of Huron Street just after 1:30 a.m. Wednesday after ShotSpotter indicated several shots had been fired in the area. A resident also called 911 to report shots fired.

According to a news release, when Pittsburgh police officers arrived at the scene, they found a man outside a home. About 10 minutes later, the officers reported shots fired. An officer fired his weapon, hitting the man.

Officers performed CPR and rendered first aid. The man was taken to the hospital where he died. No information on his identity has been released.

Allegheny County police say the status of the officer involved in the incident will be determined by Pittsburgh Police in accordance with their protocols.
