US Rep. Chris Deluzio’s pilot program to offer free VA transport for veterans

A new pilot program will provide free weekly van transport for veterans to and from Beaver County’s Veterans Administration Clinic and Pittsburgh’s VA Medical Center.

The shuttle is free and available to all veterans who use the VA for their health care. The 90-day pilot program will run every Tuesday, starting Feb. 6.

ADA-accessible vans will depart from the Beaver County VA clinic at 300 Brighton Ave. in Rochester at 7:30 a.m. and arrive at the Pittsburgh VA clinic on University Drive in Oakland in time for 9 a.m. appointments. There will be a designated space for veterans to wait for their appointments throughout the morning.

The van will leave University Drive at 2 p.m. and return to Beaver County by 3:30 p.m.

Veterans who wish to use the shuttle should schedule appointments between 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Tuesdays starting Feb. 6.

U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio, D-17, Aspinwall, said Monday the program is the result of a yearlong Department of Veterans Affairs push and input from members of his Veterans Advisory Board.
