A K-9 officer helped track Rachel Mautino’s footprints to a rusted refrigerator near other abandoned trash
Police officials arrested a Pennsylvania woman after she was found hiding in a rusted refrigerator in the woods following a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle .
Rachel Mautino allegedly led police on a chase through New Kensington and Lower Burrell on Sunday after stealing a car while under the influence of drugs.
According to the criminal complaint, police were tracking a stolen Nissan Sentra that was driving in and out of New Kensington on Jan. 2. After a high-speed chase, Mautino ended up going down a dead end where she turned the lights off on the car, and then fled into the woods, WPXI reported.
K-9 Officer Atom then helped track fresh footprints down the hill and found Mautino’s orange hoodie on the ground near an area filled with abandoned appliances and trash. Mautino was found inside a nearby rusted refrigerator, police said.
According to the police complaint, Mautino admitted to having taken an unknown substance before driving. She refused to take a blood test.
