Man arrested after trying to get into Propel Braddock Hills school with gun

A man was arrested for trying to get into a school in Braddock Hills with a gun Thursday.

Braddock Hills police said a man showed up at Propel Braddock Hills Elementary School to pick up a student he said was his child. He didn’t comply with the school’s policy of showing identification for pick up and got agitated.

Officers said the man, Dushaun Knox, allegedly threatened school staff, who called police. They tried talking to Knox as he was walking away and told him to stop.

Knox started running and threw a gun, according to police. Officers briefly chased him in the parking lot before they took him into custody and recovered the gun.

A spokesperson for Propel Schools told Channel 11 the school was on lockdown for around three minutes while police pursued a person on foot in the parking lot.
