Former Pennsylvania police chief pleads guilty in federal court to drug conspiracy

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (WTAJ) — A former chief of police in Pennsylvania pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy in federal court.

Shawn Denning, 43, former police chief in Greensburg, pleaded guilty to conspiring to distribute over 50 grams of meth and a quantity of cocaine, United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan said.

As part of the plea, Denning admitted that while serving as captain of the Greensburg Police Department and continuing through his time as chief, he conspired with others to distribute meth in the form of fake “Adderall” pills and cocaine in Western Pennsylvania, Georgia, Texas and Oklahoma.

Prosecutors said that toward the end of the investigation, Denning was recorded in an undercover operation discussing the drug conspiracy with a confidential source and admitting to his conduct.
