Public memorial for first Allegheny Co. Exec set for later in May

A public memorial service honoring Allegheny County’s first chief executive, Jim Roddey, is set for May 29 at 3 pm at Alumni Hall at the University of Pittsburgh.

Roddey died on March 7 at age 91.

Roddey served as chief executive from 2000 to 2004.

In a statement, Roddey’s family said that Allegheny County Republican Party chairman and county councilman at large Sam Demarco is coordinating the public memorial service.
