Award-winning sports reporter lands ‘dream job’ at KDKA-TV

She may have been born in San Diego, but Cassidy Wood bleeds black and gold and was excited to recently announce she has landed her “dream job” at KDKA-TV covering Pittsburgh sports.

Wood says she has been “grinding” in the television business for seven years now.

After graduating from Oregon State University, Wood got her first job in Beaumont, Texas, just one week before Hurricane Harvey hit the area.

Shortly after, the Houston Astros won the World Series and she covered many of the games and celebration after.

“So, that was quite a first year in the industry!” Wood tells KDKA Radio.

From there, she took a job at WOWK in Charleston, West Virginia.

Starting in news, Wood worked her way up to Sports Director, winning multiple “Best Sports Anchor” awards three years in a row.

Wood says her family grew up in Fairmont, WV and her father and uncle were born in Pittsburgh.

“So, I grew up in a Pittsburgh sports home, and being able to cover those teams has always been my dream,” says Wood. “I just can’t wait to get up there and get to work! Especially with such an incredible sports team at KDK A.”
