Man accused of leading police on high speed chase in Somerset County

SOMERSET COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — An Allegheny County man is facing charges after he allegedly led officers on a chase exceeding 100 mph in Somerset County.

According to the Somerset County District Attorney Molly Metzgar , on Thursday, Nov. 14, officers with the Somerset County District Attorney Detective, multiple Somerset County police departments, Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police became involved in a high-speed chase.

Centre County man charged with assault, evading police after violent encounter

Summit Township Police Department attempted to pull over a vehicle for multiple violations when the driver, Hildred Berkley, 42, of Braddock, allegedly refused to stop. The DA said that Berkley fled at speeds of over 100 mph for 15 minutes.

PSP attempted to use spike strips to stop the vehicle but eventually had to conduct a PIT maneuver. When they successfully stopped the vehicle Berkley was arrested. According to the DA, they found suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle.
