PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – He saw his teammate do it in his first college game last year, now Jaland Lowe records a triple-double, the final assist coming on a Jorge Diaz Graham three late in the second half. Panthers beat VMU 93-48 Monday night.
The sophomore point guard finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in 33 minutes. Bub Carrington had a triple double in November of last year.
“I don’t know if people understand how hard that is,” said Pitt head coach Jeff Capel. “It’s a really, really difficult thing to do and he did it in such an efficient manor. Really pleased and happy for him that he was able to do that. It comes from having really good teammates and guys that make shots.”
Lowe was 50% field goals (4-8), 100% free throws (2-2) and even added a blocked shot and a steal.
“It just was in the flow of the game,” Lowe said. “I just realized at halftime just how the game was going that lanes were opening up for assists for my teammates. Rebounds were coming my way, just being in the right position. It was just kind of in the flow. It came naturally.”
