Pittsburgh’s second largest law firm has decided to stay Downtown.
K&L Gates is extending its lease for another 15 years in the city’s 12th largest office building.
K&L Gates managing partner Thomas Ryan tells the Pittsburgh Business Times that their downtown headquarters is the nerve center for their entire firm.
They have been in the Henry Oliver Building since 2007 and had leased 200-thousand square feet.
They will be making multi-million-dollar upgrades and consolidating the space to eight floors and 15-thousand square feet.
K&L Gates employs 566 people downtown with 138 attorneys.
The news comes at a time when very few long-term commitments have been made downtown.
This move should also help with the transfer to a new owner of the building.
