Pittsburgh Regional Transit is applying for $3 million in funds for 2026 from the Allegheny Regional Asset District Board (RAD), an independent local government unit that provides grants to the county’s cultural and civic organizations.
PRT’s CEO, Katharine Kelleman, told the RAD board during a public hearing Downtown on Thursday that its financial support would show legislators around the state that Allegheny County values its public transit, as the beleaguered agency battles to secure funding from the state legislature in Harrisburg.
“It makes it easier for us to have these very important conversations,” she said. “If we model out right now for 10 years, we do not have enough money to make transit work.”…
