Local Food Assistance Options Available for Residents Affected by SNAP Suspension

As of October 16, 2025, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) is suspended due to the ongoing government shutdown. SNAP is a federal program that provides food benefits to low-income families. The suspension means the program is currently unavailable.

To assist affected residents, library staff have created a list of local and county resources. Local options include the Sewickley Community Center Food Pantry, which serves certain zip codes twice a month. The Sewickley YMCA Mini Pantries offer non-perishable food and personal care items in several communities.
