A 12-foot-tall raccoon sculpture draws people of all ages to a new park in Millvale

After months in the making, a 12 1/2 -foot-tall raccoon sculpture is now the centerpiece of Millvale’s Rainbow Raccoon Park.

It’s not just for looks – visitors can walk through the sculpture, take pictures with it and even climb on top of it. As soon as it was installed, an event proved how effective a wild piece of artwork can be in bringing the community together.

The sculpture was revealed on Oct. 18 during a community unveiling that lasted from the afternoon into the evening. Two DJs, Tyler Boykin of Wave Motion Sound and Paul “Sweet Spot” Soudmand of the Sweet Sounds Collective performed inside of the sculpture while attendees gathered around…
