The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will continue restrictions on Route 28 and several ramps in Allegheny County into next week. The affected areas include the City of Pittsburgh, Etna Borough, and O’Hara Township. Work is scheduled to start on Monday, November 3, 2025.
Drivers on southbound Route 28 at Anderson Street will see single-lane and shoulder restrictions from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM on weekdays, November 3 to November 7. This is for conduit and sign foundation installation. Overnight shoulder restrictions will also be in place on the northbound Route 28 off-ramp to I-279 North/East Ohio Street and the southbound Route 28 off-ramp to the 31st Street Bridge/Strip District. These will occur from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM on November 5 and 6 for sign installation.
PennDOT will conduct wrong-way detection testing on several Route 28 off-ramps each weeknight through Thursday, November 6.
