Pittsburgh Family’s Home Invaded by SUV, Law Enforcement Response Under Scrutiny in Brighton Heights

In an unsettling turn on Perrott Avenue in Pittsburgh’s Brighton Heights neighborhood, Monique Osburn and her husband were jolted from sleep by the calamity of a car penetrating the front of their residence. As reported by WTAE, the incident, which transpired around 2:30 a.m. last Saturday, unfolded when a Volvo SUV crashed into their home, forcing its entry up to the tire tracks through their yard, and essentially breaching their abode’s privacy and security.

“The house shook, really bad, and it was just a loud boom,” Osburn stated, as per WPXI. Following the harrowing interruption, Osburn confronted a woman, allegedly under the influence, lodged in her porch though the driver’s condition and potential intoxication remain conjectural as field sobriety tests appear to have been forgone by attending officers.

Osburn’s discontent is palpable as she recounts the response from law enforcement, or rather, the lack thereof, which is now under review after Pittsburgh Public Safety officials were prompted by outcry. “There’s a reason that there are laws against DUI, and they’re meant to be enforced. And when you don’t enforce them, it gives us complete lack of trust in the justice system,” Osburn expressed in a statement detailed by WTAE.
