Woman rescued from fire at East Ninth Street residence in Erie Oct. 24 dies in Pittsburgh

An Erie woman whom city firefighters rescued from a burning home on East Ninth Street Oct. 24 has died at a Pittsburgh hospital.

The woman, identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office Nov. 12 as 69-year-old Mitzie Weber, died at UPMC Mercy hospital on Nov. 5, according the office and to Don Sauer, chief fire inspector for the Erie Bureau of Fire.

Weber was flown to UPMC Mercy from UPMC Hamot after Sauer said Erie Bureau of Fire crews rescued her from 918 E. Ninth Street after fire broke out inside the residence. The fire was reported on Oct. 24 at 10:07 a.m., fire officials said Nov. 10…
