Pittsburgh Esplanade breaks ground on $740M waterfront redevelopment

PITTSBURGH — Construction has officially begun on the long-planned Pittsburgh Esplanade, a $740 million redevelopment project along the Ohio River that local leaders say will reshape the Chateau and Manchester neighborhoods.

State and city officials joined developers Monday for a groundbreaking ceremony inside a warehouse slated for demolition, marking the first major step in a 15-acre project that will bring new housing, retail and entertainment space to the riverfront, KDKA reported.
