La Cantina is a Mexican bar and restaurant located on the corner of Bates Street and Atwood Street. It received one high-risk, five medium-risk and 11 low-risk violations, according to the food safety assessment report.
Pest management was the only violation considered high risk. The report states that there were “too-many-to-count” mouse droppings under the pre-scrub sink and additional droppings under the sugar storage shelf. This is a repeat violation.
Other food safety violations include cooked foods that require specific time and temperature controls to prevent unsafe bacteria growth stored without date labels, clogged floor drains in the kitchen with stains indicating previous backflow, damaged and improperly installed plumbing fixtures, and no hand soap in the women’s bathroom.
